Sandra Semple – battling for
Seaton
Sandra cares passionately about
Seaton. She is a founder member of Stand Up For Seaton and thinks it is
time for Seaton to take a greater role in deciding its future. She has
extensive experience of working with bureaucrats and is known for her
forthright approach to problem solving!

Mel Greenyer – the individual
and democracy
Mel
is also a founder member of Stand Up For Seaton and creator of its
widely-read blog. He runs Axe Valley Freecycle (a community recycling
scheme) and does voluntary work for a children’s campaign group.
He feels we're living in a
world run for profit at the expense of listening to what people want,
and the best place to start reversing that trend is at the local level.

Julia Roebuck – families and
affordable housing
Julia is in her 30s with a small son. She runs an IT company with her
husband and thinks more young people should be councillors. She is
concerned about the lack of affordable housing and facilities for
families, particularly the possible loss of the pool and nursery at the
holiday village.

Claire Wise – global warming
and the environment
Claire lives in Seaton with her husband and three teenage children. She
works at Axe Valley Community college. She is passionate about the
environment and worried about the impact of global warming on Seaton.
She is has a particular interest in permaculture and has an allotment in
Seaton.

Sophie O’Connell – youth and
the arts
Sophie studies at Exeter College. At 20 she could become one of the
youngest councilors in the country if elected. She believes Seaton is
full of untapped potential and is concerned about the needs of the
town’s young people. She is also keen to promote community values and
the arts.

Bob Palacio – the young and
the old
Bob
has lived in Seaton for almost 30 years. Working for the IBA and
latterly NTL maintained and installed broadcast transmitting stations
throughout the UK and other parts of the world. He loved the sense of
community that he perceived on first coming to Seaton and wishes to
develop and encourage this.

Graham Jones – quality of
life and traffic management
Graham is a traffic engineer and transport planner. His family has been
associated with the area for 500 years. His priorities include
community facilities and enhancing Seaton for everyone. His expertise
will enable him to deal with EDDC/DCC on matters such as road safety,
public transport and car parking.

Pepita Collins – business and
sustainable building
Pepita has lived in East Devon for many years and is a retired business
woman and restaurateur. She has recently extended her home using
sustainable building techniques which were filmed for national
television. She is particularly keen to ensure that building in Seaton
is done sensibly, sustainably and sympathetically
|
